The legendary fort Fort Boyard

Built in several stages between 1804 and 1866, Fort Boyard was built to protect the harbor, the mouth of the Charente, the port and the large arsenal of Rochefort. Subsequently, it was a prison, then abandoned and nicknamed the "useless fort" by the locals. For more than 30 years, the famous game show of the same name has been filmed on location.
