Our charming hotel in La Tremblade is located opposite the island of Oléron, a 20-minute drive away. We recommend visiting the island on foot or by bike via the Route des Huîtres or the cycle paths. You may miss the most beautiful points of interest on the island: the Citadel of Château d'Oléron, the Port des Salines, the Chassiron Lighthouse or the town of Saint-Trojan-les-Bains.

The legendary fort Fort Boyard

Built in several stages between 1804 and 1866, Fort Boyard was built to protect the harbor, the mouth of the Charente, the port and the grand arsenal of Rochefort. It was later used as a prison, then abandoned and nicknamed the "fort of the useless" by the locals. For over 30 years, the famous TV game show of the same name has been filmed on site. You can get close to the fort thanks to the many boat trips.
